It wasn't right to like her so much. Giles felt it was absolutely the wrong sort of thing. She was barely out of high school, and couldn't possibly be attracted to him. But something about her lovely green eyes, wide and honest smile, and her trusting personality attracted Giles. He couldn't go a day without thinking of her. When he lost Jenny, he hadn't thought he could ever care again, but there she was. A smart and intelligent girl that Willow, who was so capable of achievement. She could do so much better than him he was certain.

“You're staring at me,” stated Willow.

Giles cleared his throat.

“Sorry, I was lost in thought.”

“Can I be lost in your thoughts too?”

Giles felt himself blushing; she couldn't seriously have added the trick of mind reading to her formidable skills.

Willow grinned at him. “I just meant I like it when you get lost in thought, you look so carefree.”

“Thank you Willow. However, we have more pressing matters to attend to.”

She touched his hand lightly. “I'm going to say something, and you have to promise not to interrupt.”

Giles nodded his agreement.

“I like you. More than in a friends kind of way, I think you're cute, and smart, and if you don't feel the same, I'm going to be forced to leave the room so you won't watch me cry.'

“Willow, I…”

She began blushing furiously.

“Buffy told me a long time ago to seize the moment. And you've been there for me since Oz left. I thought my heart would break in two.”

“Yes well it was only natural that you were distraught.”

“You haven't answered the question. Well, not really question, because it was a statement, but you know what I'm trying to say.”

Giles nodded. “I do. That's why I'm going to be completely honest with you Willow.”

She looked at him hopefully.

“I find you attractive as well, and would like nothing better than to do something about that fact.”

He kissed her lightly on the cheek, and checked her reaction.

So, he kissed her on the lips, and she was kissing him back. It was delightful, too good to be true.

“So, now what?'

“Would you like to go out to dinner?”

Willow was only too happy to agree.
